This course is for individuals who work in travel departments or who write travel policy for their agency. This course provides the knowledge and understanding you need to research complex travel issues, make travel recommendations, clarification of topics discussed in the TDY course, a discussion of policy issues, and other duties relative to your agency’s travel program and mission.
Case studies are used to better understand where travel regulations originated and why they were established.
This course presents a consolidation of the travel regulations, rules, and policies presented in the Two Day TDY Travel course. The content from the two day course is consolidated into one day.
The course is ideal for students who cannot attend a two day course or for students that only require an overview of the most common regulations applicable to TDY travel.
Course Topics:
• Understand Approving Officials’ rights and responsibilities,
• Know how to properly authorize and approve travel,
• Improve understanding of the travel regulations to ensure travelers comply with mandatory travel rules, regulations, and programs,
• Understand how to determine the most cost-advantageous transportation mode for a trip,
• Recognize unauthorized travel expenses and take appropriate action,
• Determine valid travel expenses that may be included on the voucher.
This course covers a number of topics important for international travelers. Topics include: (1) making your reservations, (2) considerations for lodging, car rental, misc expenses, cash, payments, cellphones and laptops, (3) safety, (4) class of service, (5) international date line, (6) Fly America Act, and (7) case studies.
Learn how to travel using the FTR as this course takes you through three travel scenarios.
Learn the FTR in-depth as this course takes you through each part of the FTR.
Learn the rights and responsibilities of approving officials, and clarification of the FTR for many of the items that will arise with travel authorizations and expense vouchers.
Learn the rules and regulations regarding the Fly America Act and use of Open Skies Agreements.
Attending a Conference educates students on aligning their agency’s core mission with future conferences or meetings if travel is essential. It teaches the Federal Travel Regulation (FTR) policies that are most important to travelers attending or participating in conferences or workshops. The course introduces the student to ethics guidelines often experienced at conferences with respect to accepting merchandise from vendors.
Recommended for: Employees involved in the relocation process, including HR personnel, budget officers, authorizing/approving officials, preparers/reviewers of travel documents (e.g., PCS Orders, Service Agreements, and travel vouchers), and relocating persons.
